Interactive Sessions

Call for Interactive Sessions Proposals

The 27th International British Computer Society Human Computer Interaction Conference will be a forum for Interactive Sessions (demos accompanied by posters) on emerging as well as established topics relevant to the theory, applications and evaluation of technologies on “the internet of things” and the challenges it holds for HCI researchers. We believe this focus will show the diversity and richness of HCI research in the UK and Internationally for such a topical area of debate. The organization of posters and demos will be shared between the Interactive Session Track Chairs and the proposers.

Demos:

Demos demonstrate how interaction professionals and researchers have applied human-computer interaction to create practical solutions to domain specific situations. Presentations may include areas such as: challenges faced in implementing methods and techniques; development of new or improved techniques; or incorporating Internet of Things approaches into an organization (industrial case studies).

Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: architectures, protocols, and technologies, heterogeneous devices ranging from tiny sensors and actuators to mobile devices and large computers, standardized infrastructures capable of managing, sharing, and processing captured data, or any other technologies related to conference topics. Demos will be accompanied by a demonstration of the hardware/software prototype and the corresponding poster. Demonstrators should provide adequate equipment for installation. Participant will get a 10x10’ space, basic power, and a table but you may bring anything that will fit into that size space. Internet service in the demo room is provided via Wifi.

Accompanying Posters:

We solicit the submission of extended abstracts describing the corresponding demo. Extended abstracts should not exceed 2 A4 pages in eWiC Proceedings format. A template is available from http://ewic.bcs.org/category/15364. Interactive sessions proposal submissions are managed through Easychair, details at http://hci2013.bcs.org/submissions.html.

Extended abstracts will be included in the proceedings published by the conference, and will be displayed as posters in the demo room.

Important Dates:

Submission deadline for interactive sessions proposals: Fri June 14th, 2013
Notification of acceptance: Fri July 26th, 2013
